Equipment

  • 9-inch tart pan, parchment paper, rolling pin, and serrated knife

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3-4 medium apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 0.333 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch tart pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, butter, sugar, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour until it looks like small pebbles.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the tart pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Place the thinly sliced apples in a large bowl and sprinkle with the cinnamon mixture. Toss to coat the apples.
  • Arrange the apples in a circular pattern in the tart pan, overlapping the slices slightly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are soft and golden.
  • Let cool before serving. Enjoy!
