When I think of the holidays, I think of scrumptious churros. Growing up, my family would make them together as a special treat. Cast iron skillets were always my mom’s favorite way to make them, so I thought it would be fun to put a French spin on my mom’s favorite treat!
To create this version of churros, I started by combining the classic ingredients of flour, butter, and eggs, but added a bit of sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for extra flavor. I then formed the churros in the cast iron skillet, and fried them until they were golden and crispy. The skillet was the perfect vessel for frying the churros and gave them an extra crunchy texture.
Once they were fried, I sprinkled the churros with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. After that, I melted some dark chocolate in the skillet and used it to dip the churros. The combination of the crunchy cinnamon-sugar churros and the smooth and creamy melted chocolate was heavenly!
My family loved this new twist on an old favorite, and I’m sure your family will love it too. So grab a cast iron skillet and try out this scrumptious French version of churros for your next holiday gathering!
