I love experimenting with flavors in the kitchen and nothing screams summer like a cold glass of sangria! I was inspired to create this Indian-style sangria recipe when I thought about how well the tartness of the citrus fruits and the warmth of the spices would pair together. I immediately knew that I had to make it for our family’s next BBQ.
I started by gathering my ingredients – oranges, lemons, limes, apples, grapes, and spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. I also added a bottle of red wine and let the flavors come together in the fridge for a few hours. Then, I fired up the grill and added the citrus slices and some of the other fruits to the grill. I wanted to give the sangria an additional smoky flavor and the grilled fruits added the perfect touch.
Once the fruits were done grilling, I threw them into the blender with the rest of the ingredients and voila! My Quick Grilled Indian Sangria was ready to be served. I put it in a pitcher and served it with a few extra pieces of the grilled fruit and some rosemary sprigs. Everyone was impressed with the flavor and I know that this recipe is going to be a hit at all of our summer BBQs!
Tips:
- You can also use white wine if you prefer.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can use a grill pan on the stove.
- For a sweeter sangria, add a bit more simple syrup.
- For a more subtle flavor, reduce the amount of cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.
- For a more tart flavor, add more citrus.
